The excitement of free agency is just beginning to unfold, with Taylor Hall now joining the Chicago Blackhawks. The trade involved sending Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula in exchange for Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall.
Foligno, who becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, had a previous contract that expired in 2021-2022 with a cap hit of $3.8 million AAV for the past two years.
His contract had a no-trade clause attached, however, the Blackhawks were reportedly one of the teams exempt from this clause, similar to Hall.
It remains uncertain what Foligno's next move will be in terms of contract negotiations, but given his regular post-season appearances and leadership experience in the league, it is likely that he will be recognized as a valuable asset by any interested teams.
