Sam Lafferty is 27 years old and is from America. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 2014 NHL draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sam came over to Chicago in a trade which sent Alex Nylander to Pittsburgh. It was Nylander for him, straight up.
This season, he has 10 goals and 11 assists, totaling up to 21 points. Lafferty is tied for the most shorthanded goals in the league, at four, with Vegas' Riley Smith. Luke Richardson complimented him on his defensive play, also mentioning he is a great defender in general. Sam is also a great asset to have on the penalty kill.
Well, the Blackhawks are asking for a 2nd round pick. The Edmonton Oilers have reportedly laughed in their face at that, and he thinks he is worth way less than that. Personally, I think he is worth a second rounder. My first thought was that they were going to ask for possibly a first, but a second is totally fair for a player like Lafferty, but that is just my opinion.
