Jonathan Toews' Retirement is About to go Down According to Reports

Speculation surrounding Jonathan Toews' future in the NHL has been put to rest as reports indicate that the Chicago Blackhawks captain, and current free agent, has played his final game for the team and will retire this offseason.

Toews, selected third overall by the Blackhawks in 2006, leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having secured three Stanley Cups and earning a spot among the NHL's 100 greatest players.

With 371 goals and 511 assists, Toews ranks among the team's all-time greats.

However, rumors of his retirement gained traction when his name was absent from the list of available free agents released by his agency.


Toews' decision to not be on the free agent list for this upcoming season comes after battling symptoms of Long COVID this past year and Chronic Immune Response Syndrome, which forced him to sit out the entire 2020-21 season and parts of the previous season.
