In Tampa Bay, Tyler Motte has found a new home with an old Stanley Cup winning franchise ahead of the 2023-2024 season. It is uncertain whether the team will be a contender, but given that he played in three of the last four post-seasons, he may have to adjust his expectations.
This is probably why he changed agents and changed his game plan. During the 2022 Trade Deadline, he was traded to the Rangers, but a deal could not be reached and he was sent to Ottawa.
At the last trade deadline, he was sent back to New York as it seemed his time wasn't done there yet. Motte had to wait the majority of the summer for the Lightning to sign him for $800K over the league minimum.
Motte's price, however, was too high for the Rangers, according to NHL Insider Larry Brooks.
In August of 2023, Motte changed agents from Richard Evans of Wasserman Hockey to Pat Brisson in hopes of finding a new home, but to no avail.
