The Chicago Blackhawks' AHL team, the Rockford Ice Hogs, shared news about defenseman D.J. King. They revealed that King has been sent to the Indy Fuel of the ECHL.

This move suggests a tough time for King's career, as going back to the ECHL might be seen as a setback. In the AHL, players aim for a chance in the NHL, working hard each night to achieve that ultimate goal. Unfortunately, things seem uncertain for the 23-year-old defenseman right now.
In the current ECHL season, King, 23, scored one goal in six games with the Indy Fuel. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound defenseman has experience in the ECHL, playing 59 games last season split between the Fort Wayne Komets and the Norfolk Admirals, collecting eight points (0G, 8A) during that time.
This marks King's third full professional season, following two seasons with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and two seasons in the OHL. Notably, King briefly played in the AHL, featuring in two games with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the 2021-22 season.
As King faces this phase in his career, the hockey community will be watching to see how he handles the challenges and works towards making a mark on his journey to the NHL.
