The Blackhawks have reached the halfway point of their preseason schedule, and it is expected that the team's management and coaching staff will speed up their decision-making process to make the appropriate cuts and round out the roster.
As Davidson makes his cuts, the Rockford IceHogs, who are the Blackhawks' affiliate in the AHL, continue to take shape as players are assigned to their roster. Ryder Rolston, Louis Crevier, Ethan Del Mastro, Filip Roos, and Drew Commesso were all assigned to the IceHogs.
Crevier and Commesso were players who saw limited action with the Blackhawks in the last few games. I feel there is a chance for Commesso to come back to the Blackhawks over the coming season, as they will need to see if he can handle the NHL role since they do not have a legitimate starting goaltender.
Of course, the Blackhawks are in a rebuilding phase, and they don't want to push the win column too hard, as it's widely expected that the team will be in a lottery pick again this season.
