Bad news for the Chicago Blackhawks signing free-agent Patrick Kane
The Boston Bruins for the first time in a long time, will have salary cap flexibility. With $20 Million to play with, Don Sweeney can finally be aggressive during the off-season.
Former Blackhawk
Patrick Kane is set to become a free-agent on July 1st, with is not likely to return to Detroit.
The forward put up 47 points in 50 games with the Red Wings, after his hip-resurfacing surgery was successful. Now that he's revitalized his career, with the help of Steve Yzerman, he will continue the hunt for a Stanley Cup.
It seems that Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins have their eyes on the legend, as he filled a secondary-scoring role, the Bruins would need to help fill out their forward core.
If they can find a way to sign Patrick Kane, they could make a solid addition to their top-six and finally find their way to the Stanley Cup Finals, a feat not achieved since 2019 against the St. Louis Blues.
Frank Seravalli and Colby Cohen of DFO project Kane's next contract to be $4 Million AAV, with a term of two years, due to his age.
