Jonathan Marchessault and the Nashville Predators came nowhere close to a playoff spot this year, and he's reportedly open to getting a fresh start elsewhere.
The Nashville Predators came nowhere near close to securing a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs despite multiple major additions last summer, which included Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault.
And even though Marchessault still has 4 years left on his contract, he's reportedly open to seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
Per NHL analyst Frank Seravalli, Marchessault would welcome the chance to return to his home province of Quebec to play for the Montreal Canadiens.
I think in a perfect world, he would love to go to the Montreal Canadiens and go home. I don't know how open they are to that, given the term on his deal. But you can see him helping a pretty good offence already to take that next step. He seems like a true Marty St. Louis type player, doesn't he?
Marchessault admitting to struggling with his mental health this year amidst the poor season with the Predators, which nobody expected.
"It's definitely been a hard season for me, personally. I didn't expect the move to be that big, in terms of (draining my) energy. ... I think it was just a really tough summer, to be honest. Not a lot of time for me and my wife to just relax and enjoy life a little bit. So it's been definitely overwhelming.

Marchessault had 56 points (21G, 35A) in his 1st year with the Predators.
