After the Oilers beat the Panthers in Game 1 of the SCF, former defenseman and current commentator P.K. Subban is facing backlash for an outlandish statement.
The Edmonton Oilers beat the Florida Panthers 4-3 in OT in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, taking a 1-0 series lead. It marks a reverse of what happened in last year's Cup Final against the Panthers, who initially took a 3-0 series lead.
Leon Draisaitl played the role of hero with a pair of goals, including the OT GWG. Connor McDavid also had a pair of assists.
Former NHL defenseman PK Subban, now an analyst, is drawing criticism for an outlandish statement he recently made during a live segment with noted sports host Stephen A. Smith.
Subban said that he believes that the Oilers should retire the sweater numbers of both McDavid and Draisaitl immediately if they beat the Panthers in the Cup Final to capture their 1st championship since 1990.
