Philadelphia Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkov involved in Dubai supercar accident
The Philadelphia Flyers should have a track on their superstar rookie Matvei Michkov at this point in his career. Still fresh off of the boat from Russia, and already we're concerned about his well-being.
The former 7th overall pick in 2023 came over to play for the Flyers this year and didn't disappoint.
In 80 games, he scored 63 points (26 goals, 37 assists) and was every bit the player we expected him to be.
Now, as a result of the accident he's suffered, we're concerned for his well-being.
According to reports, Michkov was not driving. Though I imagine the insurance for that vehicle must be sky-high, as it was under his name!
Michkov currently makes $950K AAV for the Philadelphia Flyers and was drafted by GM Danny Briere as a key piece in the team's ongoing rebuild.
Michkov originally slid into 7th due to ongoing rumors about the lack of character he had, which led to the Flyers winning him at 7th. Since then, Flyers fans have been impatient for his arrival until this season when they got their wish.
With John Tortorella out of the picture, and a healthy Michkov in the fall, could the Flyers find themselves improving overall, maybe with a possibility of Rick Tocchet taking the reins?
Either way, we're happy he's safe.
