Former Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland lands surprising new job with former rivals

the Los Angeles Kings are perennial losers to the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup playoffs. With Holland stepping away from the GM position in Edmonton, apparently the Kings felt that he'd be the next best candidate in Los Angeles.

If you can't beat them, join them? More like hire them, I guess.

Regardless, according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, the Kings have done the deed and hired former Four-Time Stanley cup winning GM, Ken Holland.

Holland who is way past his prime, hasn't been able to construct a Stanley Cup winning roster since 2009.

Apparently, he has friends in high places in the league, as he was also being considered for the New York Islanders GM role.

This was reported by The Athletic's Arthur Staple. A mind-blowing bit of news, as the old boys club in the NHL remains ongoing amidst an NHL that is attempting to stay relevant while its getting thumped by other sports in the national discussion, and ratings.

While Holland is a Hall of Famer, his record after 2009 doesn't really make him look so good. GM Steve Yzerman has to clean up his mess in Detroit, while Stan Bowman is making the Oilers in his own image at the moment.

Holland spent 21 years as the Red Wings' GM, and his regular season record was 1688-925-523-72, and 3 Stanley Cups.

However, this won't be the GM the Kings are getting.
