Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has just revealed which team he believes is set to land Mitch Marner this summer, and it comes as a shock to many.

Since the Toronto Maple Leafs' elimination in the NHL's Eastern Conference Second Round against the Florida Panthers in Game 7, several reports have surfaced that Mitch Marner's days with his childhood favorite team are numbered.
As a unrestricted free agent, it's ultimately up to Marner as to where he would like to play moving forward, but his latest statement confirms it will not be with the Maple Leafs.
The Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes and Utah Mammoth have emerged as suitors with cap space to sign Marner, but insider Elliotte Friedman believes otherwise.
According to the reputable NHL insider, the Vegas Golden Knights, who submitted a surprising trade offer for Marner last season, is the most suitable destination that 'makes a lot of sense' for the former fourth overall pick at this very moment.
It's confirmed that Vegas has significant interest in Marner, due to their negotiations for a trade involving the Leafs forward last season, revealed by Friedman.
A Marner and Jack Eichel duo in Vegas? That would certainly be lethal.
"Vegas makes a lot of sense for Mitch Marner."

In the failed submitted trade last summer, according to Friedman, the Maple Leafs attempted to acquire defenseman Shea Theodore in the proposed trade, and the Golden Knights did not want to part ways with their veteran defenseman.
Now, they have the opportunity and appear to be frontrunners to sign acquire their former trade target off of the free agent market at no cost.
