The Chicago Blackhawks seem to have made the final adjustments on their new coaching staff. Assistant coach Barry Smith wrapped up his brief tenure with the Hawks this week and will go back to his front office duties. Smith jumped behind the bench when the Hawks fired Joel Quenneville and Jeremy Colliton took over as head coach. With Smith being a fixture in the Hawks' front office, many believed he wasn't there to just help Colliton, but to also check out what exactly is going on in the Hawks locker room at the moment. Colliton has hired former Blackhawks' defenseman Sheldon Brookbank who was working in Rockford. Smith will go back to being the Director of Player Evaluation after tonight. Colliton has appreciated all the help he provided during the transition. «We were a little bit shorthanded, and he left his wife and his previous life, lived in a hotel for two and a half months and was a great resource for me and the staff. Really appreciate that. He's been through the wars already, so for him to come back into it was very selfless.»
