Auston Matthews lets his emotions get the best of him while throwing temper tantrum against Senators Tuesday
The
Maple Leafs' hope to sweep the Senators has quickly gone down the drain after coughing up consecutive losses while being up three games to none.
In what was a firm control of the series for the Leafs has quickly vanished for them after coughing up 4-3 and 4-0 losses, past reminders of playoff terrors are now looming amongst their fan base.
As the Senators are in search to tie up the series on Thursday in game 6 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, the Leafs look for their star players to come out of hibernation.
That includes Captain
Auston Matthews, who finished with a whopping plus/minus of -4 on Tuesday night, and his frustrations were certainly not hidden.
A Sportsnet camera panned to the Leafs 'leader' on the bench where he would be seen slamming his stick in anger before tossing it onto the ice in a tantrum.
Matthews was already quite frustrated after suffering an injury following a blocked shot that required him to ice his hand.
The 'core four' is quite the mysterious group that appears formidable on the odd occasion.
Sportsnet highlighted their lack of consistency by revealing that Matthews,
William Nylander and
Mitch Marner have a combined 0 power-play goals in their entire playoff career in Games 5 through 7.
With Game 6 upcoming on Thursday, do you think the Maple Leafs will be able to successfully close out the series with a win?
