Foligno, who becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, had a previous contract that expired in 2021-2022 with a cap hit of $3.8 million AAV for the past two years.
His contract had a no-trade clause attached, however, the Blackhawks were reportedly one of the teams exempt from this clause, similar to Hall.
Foligno has had a long and storied career in the league, having been a part of the Columbus Blue Jackets as their captain during their 2019 sweep against Tampa Bay.
He has also consistently made the post-season with the Boston Bruins, although their hopes were dashed by the Florida Panthers in a similar fashion to his own experience in 2019.
It remains uncertain what Foligno's next move will be in terms of contract negotiations, but given his regular post-season appearances and leadership experience in the league, it is likely that he will be recognized as a valuable asset by any interested teams.
