After making her debut at the world championship last year, Nela Lopušanová has quickly established herself as one of the most promising female prospects globally and continues to impress at higher levels of competition. During a recent under 16 boys championship match, Lopušanová was subjected to a brutal blindside hit by Dominik Halaj, as captured on video.

Absolutely brutal blindside hit on Nela Lopušanová.
Dominik Halaj received 2 min for charging. Nela seems ok. She's out there in the 3rd. #U16BoysChampionship

In the latter stages of the second period, Halaj crossed the ice and hit Lopušanová, sending her flying. Despite her teammates coming to her defense, Halaj was given a two-minute minor for charging. Although Lopušanová returned for the third period, she was taken down once again and sustained a severe wrist injury less than five minutes into the period.

#ICYMI Here's where the injury occurred.

After that blindside hit, I don't wanna say she was targeted this game, but it sure seemed like it to me.

In the last boys' match Nela Lopusanova suffered a fractured wrist. Treatment time 6 weeks.
Nela copes with it with a smile.
