JT Miller's agent Brian Bartlett of Bartlett hockey told the athletic in an interview that there's a good chance Miller's camp will opt out of contract talks once the reguar season commences, should both sides not come to an agreement ahead of the season.
Miller had his most productive season in 2021, scoring 32 goals, along with 67 assists for 99 points through 80 games. Reports about the sides being unlikely to come to agreement were rampant heading into the NHL offseason.
It seems like that, if the Canucks and Miller are unable to reach an agreement on an extension, then certainly it may be in the organizations best interest to deal the pending UFA, rather than losing him for nothing during the season, should Miller decide he is unhappy.
