The NHL is Banned From This One Country - According to Dominik Hasek
The first two NHL games of this season were played in Prague, which is located in the Czech Republic.
Prior to the games between the Sharks and Predators, members of the Czech Republic requested that Russians (from both teams) not be allowed to participate in those games under the NHL's supervision.
These requests were made amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine that was instigated by Russia.
The NHL did not act on those requests, as they allowed Russians to play in the games in Prague.
Following the games, NHL goaltending legened, Dominik Hasek, came out with the message below:
Hasek requests that the NHL not attempt to come back to their country until the current authorities of the league, specifically Gary Bettman (NHL Commissioner), are dismissed of their duties.
This is a hot topic at the moment, as we do not know how much authorization is behind Hasek's message.
It seems as though, even if there is no restriction on the NHL going back, it would not be in their best interest as the fanbase would not approve.
