On Twitter, the University of Omaha informed that Jerrard had regrettably lost his fight against cancer. He had allegedly been fighting the cancer secretly, and few people were aware of his struggles. Mike Gabinet, the head coach of Omaha, issued the following statement:
Jerrard was extremely familiar with the NHL; in 198889, he played five games for the Minnesota North Stars and spent five years coaching several NHL clubs, including the Dallas Stars for two seasons, the Calgary Flames for two, and the Colorado Avalanche for one.
He worked as a hockey coach for 23 years including all, in leagues including the NHL, AHL, IHL, CCHA, and NCHC. Jerrard played hockey for 19 years, playing in the NHL, AHL, IHL, and in his early years, the CCHA.
We want to express our sincere condolences and prayers to the friends and family members who will be impacted by this tragic news.
