With several rookies in the organization, including Connor Bedard, the future superstar of the NHL, along with Kevin Korchinski of the Seattle Thunderbirds, it's widely expected that mistakes will be made, and the team will continue to struggle.
With several veterans still on the Blackhawks, some have become vocal about the mistakes happening and believe it's up to the veterans to hold their teammates accountable.
One player who comes to mind is defenseman Seth Jones. Jones has been a lightning rod of controversy after signing his monster contract extension, which is north of $9.5 million per season, and his production and play have been lacklustre at best.
Jones explained that the team wants to hold players accountable and should feel the need to express it after losing to the New Jersey Devils on home ice 4-2.
It's quite likely that the Blackhawks will be in the market for another lottery pick this season, as this has been strategically planned by General Manager Kyle Davidson and ownership. Time will tell where and how low they will finish in the standings.
