Nazem Kadri this morning signed with the Calgary Flames, but the question was how the Flames were going Kadri under the cap. Shane Monahan's name was thrown around, and the rumors were true. Calgary traded Shane Monahan to the Montreal Canadians, and the Habs got a First-Round pick with it.
News came out a few days ago that the New York Islanders offered Kadri an offer, the same offer the Flames offered him, 7 years at 7 million. The Islanders are a decent team. They have Matt Barzal, Brock nelson, Ryan Pulock, Anders Lee, Josh Bailey, and more. If Kadri would've signed with them, they would've been a really good team.
The Colorado Avalanche offered Nazem 6 years 7 million. Why wouldn't he want to go back to Colorado and win another cup? The Avalanche didn't really change at all and was a Stanley Cup contender again. Maybe Kadri saw what was going on with MacKinnon and wanted to stay away from that and go to Calgary where there isn't much drama.
The decision for Nazem Kadri to go to the Flames is an unexpected one to say the least and will have some fans scratching their heads.
