The Buffalo Sabres made an oddball decision today. The Sabres just recently resigned GM Kevyn Adams to a multi-year contract extension. This isn't exactly a blazing start for Adams making this move.

Buffalo announced today that they have resigned Mattias Samuelsson to a 7 year, 30 million dollar deal, 4 million AAV. This contract will start in the 2023-2024 season. 2 million signing bonus is included, so he will be making 2 million instead of 4. After that, he's on the regular 4 million dollar AAV. Samuelsson is only 22 years old, and had his rookie year last season. Mattias only had 12 points, all 12 being assists.

It's interesting that Buffalo would sign a played who has played a little over 55 games with 0 goals that type of contract. Maybe they see something in Samuelsson that we don't, or us non-sabres fans do not realize the skill he puts into the game.
