The Edmonton Oilers are in a tough spot in a dominant pacific division, sitting just outside of a playoff spot with the Flames, Kings and Golden Knights all ahead of them on them standings.
The two could pair up for a trade to meet each others needs, but a third team in the Philadelphia Flyers may also be added in, the Oilers are in need of a defensemen and the Blackhawks sure wouldn't mind a draft pick or two while they offload veteran defenseman's such as Jake McCabe or Connor Murphy, to let their youth get more minutes.
Elliotte Friedman has now reported that a leading candidate for the Oilers blueline is Blackhawks defensemen Jake McCabe, and Philadelphia Flyers defensemen Justin Braun. McCabe is on a very friendly deal that the Oilers would love to have at just $4 million per year.
