Edmonton Oilers' superstar, Connor McDavid, shared some words of encouragement for Chicago Blackhawks' rookie, Connor Bedard, who recently suffered a fractured jaw.
Despite McDavid's sour comments about Bedard earlier in the season, McDavid really showed his true colors here.
Drawing from his own experience as an NHL rookie in 2015, McDavid empathized with Bedard's current situation.
McDavid had faced adversity himself when he suffered a broken clavicle in his 13th game, causing him to miss a substantial three months of play.
After the Oilers' win over the Blackhawks at the United Center, McDavid expressed his sympathy, stating:
"It sucks. It really sucks. I've been in his shoes before. There's no other way to say it other than it's a bad feeling. But you know, things pass. He'll get healthy. He'll play at the top of his level again this year."
In addition to sharing his understanding of the situation, McDavid offered some advice to Bedard.
"So you know, just stick with it," McDavid advised. "Be positive, be a good teammate. Enjoy the recovery process because it can be fun, it can be exciting to get healthy again."
While Bedard's return is anticipated in 6-8 weeks, McDavid's words aim to provide comfort and motivation during the recovery period for the young rookie.
