Blackhawks Rally Around Teammate Kevin Korchinski in Difficult Times

The Saskatoon Blades officially announced Larry Korchinski's passing on Saturday, prompting Kevin Korchinski to take an extended leave of absence from the team due to the emotional toll of his father's declining health and eventual passing.

In a powerful show of support, the entire Blackhawks organization diverted their private jet to Saskatoon, enabling the entire team to attend Larry Korchinski's funeral.

The emotional impact of this experience was palpable during Friday night's game, and it's a burden that many players will carry into future matches. Blackhawks veteran Connor Murphy expressed heartfelt sympathy for Kevin Korchinski and his family, stressing the significance of the team's presence at the funeral to convey love and support.


"It's unimaginable what him and his family are going through. For us to get closer and for them to feel our love, that we're there for them, is most important," Murphy stated.

Head coach Luke Richardson acknowledged the fresh pain for the Korchinski family and assured that the team is ready to support Kevin upon his return.

"It's still fresh for the family, and it's good for him to be there. We're ready to help him out when he gets back here," Richardson added.
