Blackhawks Defensemen is Excelling at a Very High Rate
The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Sam Rinzel in the first round of the 2022 NHL Entry draft.
To further develop his skills, he decided to return to the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL for a second season to enhance his confidence in the game.
Rinzel's objective was to improve both sides of his game, as he envisions himself as a versatile defenseman who can competently play on either side of the puck. He ended up producing 36 points in 58 games during his second season with the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Assistant General Manager of Player Development, Mark Eaton praised Rinzel's skating fluidity as he adapted to the USHL.
After his stint in the USHL, Rinzel is set to join the Minnesota Golden Gophers where he will have to adjust his gameplay to match the NCAA's pace.
However, he is confident that he can do it, as he plans to train hard during the summer.
Rinzel looks forward to taking the next step forward with his future teammates in Minnesota and perhaps even help them secure the championship title as he hones his skills on both sides of the puck.
