Jack Johnson signed with the Blackhawks last summer as a free agent and seemed to be acquired to fill a depth defenseman role. Johnson didn't play great on the ice, but with the way the season has been going it's hard to place any blame on him whatsoever.

Johnson played a big leadership role in the locker room and was a role model for the young defenseman who have been up and down this season, such as Isaak Phillips and Ian Mitchell. On Sunday, Johnson was given the opportunity to chase down one more Stanley Cup with a trade back to Colorado.

While speaking to the media after his first practice with his old team, Johnson revealed his feeling after the trade. Johnson said that he is thrilled to be back in Denver and woke up happy. He also stated that his agent told him to pack a "deadline bag" before the Blackhawks west coast road trip in anticipation of a move.

While the Blackhawks are stockpiling assets and draft capital during year one of their rebuild, it is nice to see Kyle Davidson doing right by his respected players. Davidson could've very easily decided to keep Johnson just to fill a roster spot with Jake McCabe out the door, but he decided it was necessary to give Johnson another opportunity to win a second Stanley Cup in Colorado.
