North Korea is set to make its comeback to international sports this fall. The country will be sending seven judo athletes and its men's and women's U23 football teams to the 2022 Asian Summer Games.
This return to international sports suggests that North Korea is expected to participate in IIHF competition once again. They are likely to compete in the D3B IIHF Men's World Championship and D2B IIHF Women's World Championship.
The team's absence from various tournaments since 2019 was primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, their rankings have dropped significantly, with the men's team now ranked 56th out of 58 teams (compared to their previous ranking of 40th) and the women's team ranked 43rd out of 44 teams (compared to their previous ranking of 27th).
