The Washington Capitals had a disappointing season in 2022-2023 and are now looking to restructure their team. The aim is to make the team better, younger, and faster, which is essential in the new NHL.

One potential solution for the team is Alex DeBrincat, a former Chicago Blackhawk and current Ottawa Senators winger.
Alex DeBrincat's name has emerged on trade boards across the NHL and he would check a lot of boxes for the Capitals as the team looks to get younger and faster while revamping the top-6.

While a deal wouldn't be easy to pull off, could the #ALLCAPS do it?

Despite being a restricted free agent, DeBrincat has expressed no commitment to the team (Sens) long-term and is exploring his options.
Washington also has his best friend and former Blackhawks forward, Dylan Strome and Henrik Borgstrom.
DeBrincat is a highly skilled winger, who may have experienced a slight regression in terms of goals, only scoring 27 in 2022-2023 compared to 41 in 2021-2022.
However, he still managed to contribute significantly to the Senators with 66 points as one of their best wingers.
Moreover, DeBrincat has a history with Dylan Strome, which could be a significant advantage for the Capitals.
Although trading for him may be expensive, it could be a quick and effective solution for a re-tool.
However, the Capitals must also consider the trade pieces available, Anthony Mantha and Evgeny Kuznetsov, both of whom had disappointing seasons and have expensive cap hits. It is crucial for the Capitals to make it work on both ends, and we'll see how that pans out.
