TSN just confirmed a major development regarding the Chicago Blackhawks and Mitch Marner's future in the NHL.

This year, many interesting players will be available on free agency, and with the way things have unfolded since the Leafs were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs in the second round by the Florida Panthers a few weeks ago, it truly looks like top forward Mitch Marner will be available on July 1st.
Toronto Maple Leafs' general manager Brad Treliving was pretty secretive yesterday when he discussed the situation surrounding Marner and his contract in a press conference:
"I think Mitch is a tremendous player I think he's a star. I had a meeting with all the players individually, Mitch and I had a discussion. It's emotional right now I'm gonna be in touch with Mitch's representatives and determine what's best. He's got a say in the process we'll see."
If he were to leave the Leafs, Marner is likely to accept a long-term deal, possibly interested in settling down with his family for many years.
The insider Pierre LeBrun revealed that the Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Kings were interested, but the player's preferred destinations were Las Vegas or Florida.
But in a new development, the Blackhawks seem to be the favored team to sign him. According to a new report published on TSN, the Hawks have the best betting odds to sign Marner, over the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs, the two teams with the highest chances of getting him.
Per TSN:
"Only four teams project to have more cap space entering the off-season than the Chicago Blackhawks, and Marner could be the perfect opportunity to spend some of that.

Chicago enters Year 3 of the Connor Bedard experience next season, and a winger like Marner could be the perfect addition to that locker room as he could share with Bedard the things he did to leap from a 69-point player in 2017-18 to a 94-point player in his third season (2018-19)."

Updates will follow.
