The worst is confirmed for the Dallas Stars ahead of their playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche after their decision to not rest a star player in their final regular season game against the Nashville Predators ultimately backfired.

The Dallas Stars in their final regular season game took a 5-1 loss Nashville Predators, but the ultimate defeat wasn't the scoreboard.
Unlike other teams, the Dallas Stars decided to dress some of their star players such as Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, Mikko Rantanen, Matt Duchene and others in a meaningless game that was their 82nd of the year.
Most teams who are locked in their current playoff positions don't take the risk of their stars health in final regular season games just days before the playoff begin, especially when that final game is against a non-contending team with nothing to lose.
Unfortunately for Dallas, this interesting decision ultimately backfired in their face and the worst has now been confirmed for the Stars.
Jason Robertson, the team's leading-goal scorer with a wide margin, has been injured and it appears to be horrible.
«The purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury and unfortunately we didn't do that with the Robertson injury. https://x.com/MikeHeika/status/1912703874185461909. So, tough night.»
Robertson was seen leaving the arena still in a knee brace and still in 'a quite a bit of pain' according to Nashville Predators reporter, Emma Lingan.
The incident occured in the second period after Robertson received a hit by Nashville's Michael McCarron, who is a 6-foot-6 232lb enforcer.
Robertson has been a smooth-running machine up until their final game of the season, playing in all 81 games and scoring a team-high 35-goals.
This is another setback to the Dallas Stars following the injury of Miro Heiskanen underwent a knee surgery, and has yet to appear in a game since Jan. 28.
»It does sound like from sources close to the situation, it's very possible Heiskanen is not available at all during the first round to the Dallas Stars.»

The Dallas Stars now enter the playoffs on a seven-game winning streak against the red hot Colorado Avalanche, and are now down another player.
