Jonathan Toews made a statement last month that he may try to return to the NHL, and his hometown Winnipeg Jets hopes to be a destination for the veteran.
Kevin Cheveldayoff, the GM of the Winnipeg Jets knows when to scoop up veteran talent. He's built one of the best rosters in the NHL this year and could stand to acquire a Stanley Cup champion.
Now, as he has been putting feelers out into the world with a return to the league, he could find many suitors.
One of them is the Winnipeg Jets, as Kevin Cheveldayoff hopes to be one of the teams considered by their hometown star, Jonathan Toews.
Kevin Cheveldayoff recently sat down with Mike McIntyre When asked about Jonathan Toews potential return to the NHL and if the Jets would be interested, Cheveldayoff said «We would certainly hope to be in that mix.»
He continued, «I think it would be a great story for his career, too. I think he's proud of his roots and would be an interesting fit.»
Toews would be a coup for Cheveldayoff, as he'd provide the kind of leadership and experience needed to win a Stanley Cup in the NHL.
He's won three Stanley Cups in Chicago and has won a multitude of trophies during his career in the NHL.
But caveat emptor, Chevy you'll have to convince Toews to sign on the dotted line before March 7th if he's going to be able to play during your Stanley Cup playoff run in 2025.
In order to participate in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Toews must sign prior to the March 7 NHL trade deadline.
Jonathan Toews may not be the offensive wunderkind we've seen in the past, but as someone who's played 1,067 games in the NHL, he should know the tricks, ins and outs of the game itself.
He's scored 883 total points in the NHL( 311 G, 572 A) and has proven himself both on the International Level and NHL level that he has what it takes to be successful wherever he goes.
Imagine what he could do to a Winnipeg Jets team, that's been on fire this season!
