While Blackhawks fans could soon begin to worry that the constant losing could cause Connor Bedard to want to consider leaving, they needn't concern themselves about it.
The Chicago Blackhawks earned the right to select young phenom forward Connor Bedard in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft after winning the Draft Lottery.
But it's been an adjustment for Bedard at the NHL level, who has experienced varying degrees of frustration with Chicago having missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs (by a large margin) in both of his years in the League.
At the end of the season, Bedard was asked specifically about his future considering that he's set to enter the final year of his entry-level contract.
Bedard made it clear that he loves playing in Chicago and has a great relationship with general manager Kyle Davidson.
I've said it a hundred times, I love it here. I have a great relationship with [GM] Kyle [Davidson] and everyone. I don't even know what to expect with that [extension process].
You have the conversations and see-but I'm not too worried about any of that. Like I said, great relationship and I want to be here for a long time, so I don't think that's something I'm thinking about too much now.
Per Tony Marchese of On Tap Sports Net, Blackhawks fans needn't concern themselves with Bedard deciding that he wants out.
For now, Blackhawks fans can rest easy. Bedard likely isn't going anywhere; he's a foundational piece who sees his future in red, white, and black. As he put it, he trusts the direction. If his late-season heroics are any indication, that direction is up, and fast.
Bedard has played in 150 NHL games with 128 points (45G, 83A).
