Vancouver Canucks have announced the hiring of a former Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach

It appears that the Vancouver Canucks are filling out their coaching staff with the hiring of a recently fired coach in the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
According to Thomas Drance of The Athletic, it appears that the Canucks will be bringing in former Blackhawks assistant coach Kevin Dean to join newly appointed head coach Adam Foote's staff.
Dean's ties with the Blackhawks organization were cut when Chicago found Mike Vellucci on the open market to hire, a Team USA World Champion, ultimately closing Dean's time with the Blackhawks.
The idea was initially proposed on CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal show, where he discussed him being an ideal fit during an episode last week.
Dean brings a wealth of development knowledge to the Canucks organization, including a history of coaching Vancouver's forwards such as Conor Garland and Drew O'Connor at the 2025 IIHF World Championships.
He has spent the past eight years with the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins, backed up by a decade-long playing career in the NHL.

Vancouver's offense deeply struggled in the 2024-25 season, so it will be interesting to see if Dean and Adam Foote can turn things around.
