The Top 3 head coaching candidates for the Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks were all over Carle, but in the end, it just wasn't the right fit for him. So, the Hawks now have to pivot into another direction, and Kyle Davidson should have three coaches written down, because they're the ideal candidates (not in order).

The first one is Rick Tocchet.

Tocchet and the Vancouver Canucks have just parted ways, and Tocchet would be a good fit with the Blackhawks. Imagine a Tocchet without all the toxicity, drama, and ego's he faced with Vancouver, and him coaching an exciting, young team with potential. It could be fun. He coached the Canucks to a 109-point season in 2023, but injuries, specifically goaltending, riddled their playoff run.

The second candidate is Mike Sullivan. Sullivan would probably be the most desired on this list, as he and the Pittsburgh Penguins recently cut the cord. He's a two-time Cup champion as a coach and has goats greats like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Phil Kessel.

Sullivan's knowledge could really help a young, developing team, and in a couple years, he'd be a competing coach again.

Last but not least, Jay Woodcroft. Woodcroft was canned by the Edmonton Oilers after a struggling start to the season, however, that doesn't make up for his whole tenure as the Oilers coach.

Woodcroft brought the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Finals, and even though they lost, they came back and brought it to seven, among many other playoff appearances and runs. Also, how can Blackhawks fans not see what he did with Connor McDavid and not want that to see what he can do with Bedard?

Either way, Chicago needs an experienced NHL coach; not someone like Luke Richardson or Anders Sorensen with no experience.
