New insight has unveiled that the Chicago Blackhawks have completed a decision regarding Toronto Maple Leafs' free agent, Mitch Marner, and it's surprising.

The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to be aggressive when it comes to landing talent this offseason, due to the fact the team wants to provide support for their new head coach, Jeff Blashill, as he develops a young core with Connor Bedard in his third NHL year.
However, the main obstacle that is expected to get in the way of the Chicago Blackhawks' aggressive offseason is that the organization appears to lack the money necessary to make major moves.
Additionally, Chicago intends to land premium help in free agency, but with the team still being years away from competing, general manager, Kyle Davidson, can't go all in on huge names on the free agency market this summer.
With all being said, new insight has dropped regarding the Chicago Blackhawks' intentions with the top free agency target of the year, the Toronto Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner.

Per Scott Powers of The Athletic, the Chicago Blackhawks have shown interest in the veteran right-wing, Mitch Marner, but that it is unlikely that the organization will sign him due to the probability of being outbid.
«For one, if Marner does hit the open market, the Blackhawks, like everyone else, would likely inquire about him,» Powers wrote. «The Blackhawks just aren't expected to open their checkbook and allow Marner to fill out the amount. That alone probably wouldn't make them a true player for him.»

Powers continued:
«As much as they like Marner, they don't see him - or any unrestricted free agent - as an essential piece to add, considering where they are in their rebuild. He isn't the Brian Campbell or Marián Hossa that puts them over the top. Two years from now, as the Blackhawks' youth grows older and more established, that could be different.»

All to say, the Chicago Blackhawks are expected to miss out on this gem forward this summer, and although it is unfortunate, the Blackhawks do in fact have bigger things to focus on this offseason.
