NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman Announces Massive Update On The Blackhawks' Next Head Coach
The renowned NHL insider Elliotte Friedman announced a massive update on the Chicago Blackhawks' next head coach in the latest 32 Thoughts episode.
The Chicago Blackhawks are still looking for a new head coach. After parting ways with Luke Richardson during the season and naming Anders Sorensen as interim, the organization started the interview process to hire a new coach.
Across the NHL, many teams who were looking to get a new head coach already hired someone, meaning that fewer candidates are remaining to land the job in Chicago.
However, Jeff Blashill, considered among the top contenders to coach Connor Bedard and the Hawks next season, is still available and reportedly met with the organization.
While many believe he will end up getting the job, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared new details on the situation, saying on 32 Thoughts that he can't confirm it's Blashill's job, as the Hawks could interview another contender this week:
"I heard on Friday morning that he was in as the head coach of Chicago. I started asking around and had a couple people tell me it's too soonthat would be premature.»
Friedman added Blashill had a job interview elsewhere that had been canceled, making the rumor spread more.
«Blashill is a very serious contender in Chicago. It's possible that one of the reasons there has been a bit of a delay is somebody who is central to the process with the Blackhawks was not available at the end of last week, so it had to be pushed into this week. He is a very serious contender there. I just can't tell you it's 100% his job.»
Friedman added Blashill had a job interview elsewhere that had been canceled, making the rumor spread more.
