The Athletic has recently addressed Mitch Marner's NHL free agency ranking and his odds to land with the Chicago Blackhawks appear to be determined.
Mitch Marner's fate with the Toronto Maple Leafs was recently addressed and it's all but confirmed to be over for the longtime Leafs fans' time in Toronto.
With Chicago having a large amount of free cap space available, and general manager Kyle Davidson voicing his willingness to make a big splash, the Chicago Blackhawks have quickly been deemed a strong suitor to sign him in free agency.
The Athletic addresses Marner to the Blackhawks
In a recent segment, the reputable source, The Athletic, has ranked all 32 teams and their likiness to take a run at Marner.
The Blackhawks were deemed in the middle of the pack under 'the maybe but longshots' column, and they pretty much determined that Marner will indeed not be signing with the Blackhawks:
There's frustration building in Chicago as the rebuild stretches on. They'll certainly be in the mix with a massive bid, and Connor Bedard gives them one foundational piece to play with. The Blackhawks are still years away from making the playoffs, so they don't have to worry about the cap hit initially, which could allow them to put a $15 million-plus offer on the table without breaking a sweat. If Marner wants the most money, it could be here. But I don't expect that'll be the leading consideration, which drops them into this tier.
