Major development in the Chicago Blackhawks acquiring Swedish defenseman during free agency
Soderstrom has shown much growth this year after returning to Sweden, his home country and has excelled quite well, tallying a whopping 36 points in just 48 games throughout his duration of this season.
However, he has been a prospect for the
Utah Hockey Club since 2019 as a former 1st round pick, 11th overall, and has only participated in 53 NHL games throughout the duration of 6 years, which claims the Utah Hockey Club has not given Soderstrom the opportunity to prove his value.
Although he now has a new organization, this 24-year old will be a Restricted Free Agent (also known as RFA) this upcoming summer, which can lead to the once known star to receive yet another signing that concludes in him being left out.
However, a well known reporter of The Athletic, Scott Powers, noted that the
Chicago Blackhawks'GM Kyle Davidson will look into signing this defenseman for the 2025/26 NHL season.
Despite this defenseman's points being a little underwhelming, it seems as though Kyle Davidson views him as more of a depth option for their re-building organization, which can be beneficial for both sides of this trade, as the 24-year old seems to offer more than he's been given credit for thus far into his career.
Nothing has been confirmed yet regarding where this defenseman will be by the end of the summer, but we can hope he proves to his new organization that he is worth receiving a new contract that will improve his standings and the Chicago Blackhawks' chances of exceeding during the 2025/26 NHL season.
