Jeff Blashill Declines Coaching Interview To Reportedly Join The Chicago Blackhawks

According to the rumor mill, Anders Sorensen's days are numbered as Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks could be the landing spot for Jeff Blashill.
The
Chicago Blackhawks finished 25-46-11 and 8th in the Central Division this season. After Luke Richardson was fired, Anders Sorensen stepped in to fill the role.
He didn't really do much to improve the team and didn't justify a removal of the interim tag. His record this year was 17-30-9, and a .384 win percentage, not the greatest showing for the first Swedish coach in the league.
With
Sorensen on his way out, NHL Insider Wally Mazurek reports that the Chicago Blackhawks could be the place Jeff Blashill, former Red Wings Head Coach, lands next.
According to his source, Blashill turned down one role with another team, and they've begun to spread the news that he's headed to the Windy City.
Blashill took over in Detroit during the 2015-2016 NHL season. His record there wasn't spectacular(163-231-61), and he only made one trip to the playoffs once.
He has experience winning championships, but in the minor league setting of the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013.
His exit from the Red Wings was unceremonious, and after seven years in Detroit would find refuge in Tampa Bay as an assistant coach.
It's difficult to tell whether or not Blashill is the answer to the lack of cohesive play by the Blackhawks as a unit, but Sorensen didn't seem to be it either.
We hope to see improvement for the team under Blashill, but we're not about to pretend there weren't better choices available after David Carle, who was Davidson's #1 choice (Jay Woodcroft, Jeff Halpen, and Mitch Love).
Now, it seems we're going to have to wait and see whether this becomes a reality or another rumor traveling down the wire.
