GM Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks are expected to draft this elite forward third-overall

The Chicago Blackhawks and GM Kyle David are set to draft 3rd overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, and could select this elite forward if Michael Misa or Matthew Schaefer aren't available.
The Chicago Blackhawks will select 3rd overall during the 2025 NHL Draft, which will take place on June 27th-28th. The event will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and promises to be an exciting night for NHL fans.
There remain questions of who will be available at 3rd overall, as Matthew Schaefer and Michael Misa are considered to be the consensus 1st and 2nd overall picks.
That leaves the Blackhawks with the hopes that one of them truly does fall in the draft, as they need to find a linemate for Connor Bedard.
That player could be winger Porter Martone of the OHL's Brampton Steelheads.
Martone is known as a physical, skilled two-way forward, which would add some depth to Chicago's top line.
This season in 57 games, he scored a total of 98 points (31 goals, 61 assists) with the Steelheads.
On March 25th, The Athletic's Scott Wheeler gave us a profile of what Martone can do on the ice. And it sounds like he could offer the Blackhawks the needed muscle they're lacking in the top six.
"Martone's got a pro game and frame. He battles, goes to the net, finishes his checks, and will drop the gloves. He handles the puck smoothly for his size and can be quite noticeable in possession when he's playing with confidence and intention."
As of February 26th, Martone produced 11 points in his last 12 games in that month alone.
If the Blackhawks could land a better player at 3 than Martone, they should take them, but they shouldn't pass up on him if he's available.
