Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jordan Oesterle has found himself in a job hunt and not by choice, as General Manager Barry Trotz and the Nashville Predators have waived the depth player.

Oesterle, a former Blackhawk, has become a journeyman in the NHL and spent the 2024-25 season playing for both the Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators.
He played 37 games, scoring 10 points (4-6) split between the Bruins and Predators, and spent time with the Bruins' AHL affiliate (Providence Bruins).
This season, if he clears waivers, he'll find himself in a familiar place in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals.
Though it might seem unrealistic that he wouldn't clear, there are teams that could use a 7th defenseman in the lineup. A role that Oesterle could fulfill.
He's been utilized as a call-up option as of late, but could cherish the chance of finding a full-time job in the NHL again, as the last time he played nearly a full season in the league was 2018-19 for the Arizona Coyotes.

Jordan Oesterle: A Career Journeyman

Oesterle has worked hard to get himself into the NHL, being an undrafted defenseman. He started his career in the AHL with the Oklahoma City Barons and worked his way up into the Edmonton Oilers ranks in 2014-15.
He's found himself suiting up for the Detroit Red Wings, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, and Boston Bruins during his career.
A sign he's had trouble finding a full-time role in the NHL, as he's never played more than 71 games in a season.
His injury history hasn't been a help, and neither have the consistent healthy scratches in his career.
Can he work himself back up into the ranks of the Predators, who were one of the league's worst teams in the NHL last season?
