Former Chicago Blackhawk Max Domi learns his fate from the NHL Department of Player Safety
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward, Max Domi, has found himself in trouble with the DOPS after he boarded Panthers forward, Aleksandr Barkov, during Game 4.
The Department of Player Safety is putting their foot down. As former Chicago Blackhawks forward,
Max Domi is battling it out in the playoffs, he committed a huge penalty in Game 4.
The penalty? He boarded 1st-line center, Aleksandr Barkov of the Florida Panthers, on Sunday, May 11th.
The incident occurred at 19:52 in the third period, and George Parros referred to his favorite ruling, the CBA maximum, which is a $5K fine.
Seems like chump change, for someone who's earned in total an estimated earnings of $30 million over his NHL career.
Domi would be assessed a major penalty afterwards, but for the risk of a concussion and possible CTE diagnosis in the future, the league really needs to work on disincentivizing these hits in other methods, rather than just the pocketbook.
The Maple Leafs would be shut out and lose 2-0 after
Sergei Bobrovsky put on a stellar performance, making 23 saves that night.
While
Domi would take 1 shot on goal, with 3 shots missed in total, and incurred 7 PIMs that night, playing a total of 17 shifts, and 12:03 TOI that night.
I guess it makes sense why he'd "goon" it up that night instead of being a productive forward.
This season in 74 games with the Maple Leafs, he's scored a total of 33 points (8 goals, 25 assists).
