The insider Elliotte Friedman unveiled the Chicago Blackhawks' likely decision on trading their third overall pick.

After yet another season of finishing at the bottom of the National Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks had great odds of winning the Draft Lottery, held a few weeks ago.
However, despite low odds, the New York Islanders ended up winning the lottery and will get the first overall pick at the next draft.
This year's draft isn't as deep as we saw in the past years, with only a few players expected to become NHL stars soon.
In fact, according to Elliotte Friedman, teams are sensing that after the first three picks, teams seem more willing to trade their pick:
"The teams at the top won't be interested in moving down, that far, maybe one spot."

"After the top 3, teams are sensing there is a little bit more willingness, potentially for some of these teams to move down."
This could hint that the Blackhawks, who have the third pick, could get a player despite many trade rumors involving the pick.
With Matthew Schaefer, Michael Misa, and James Hagens set to go down as the 2025 NHL Draft top three, the Hawks are in a position to add a very good player, likely better than most available on the trade market.
While many teams could show interest in acquiring the Hawks' pick with a trade, it would be surprising to see General Manager Kyle Davidson accepting a deal.
Of course, if he gets an offer he can't refuse, things could change, but the prospect of adding another top forward to play with Connor Bedard for many years must be tempting for the Hawks.
Whatever they end up doing, the Hawks will be a much better team next season, and the next, and the next.
