Detroit Red Wings' Patrick Kane appears emotionally devastated after loss to the Montreal Canadiens
36-year old NHL veteran Patrick Kane has been through plenty of ups and downs in his career, including a
hip resurfacing surgery this past off-season that left many questioning his future in the NHL.
According to
NHL.COM, no hockey player had ever come back from that and excelled.
Kane has defied all odds, tallying up a whopping 55 points so far this season with the Detroit Red Wings, the three-time Stanley Cup Champions best since the 2021-22 season with the
Chicago Blackhawks.
Unfortunately for Kane, his impressive numbers that tend to carry the Red Wings on a nightly basis have not been enough to push them to the post-season, who have yet to make it to the playoffs since 2015-16.
The
Montreal Canadiens furthered their winning streak to six games on Tuesday night, barrying any post-season hopes for the Red Wings, and Kane appeared to be more heartbroken than anybody during post-game interviews after finding out their playoff hopes are down the drain.
This is quite the sad scene, and many wonder if Kane may be on the verge of retirement.
The 36-year old NHL veteran's contract with the Detroit Red Wings this summer will expire, making him a free agent.
Will
return to the Blackhawks? Will he leave Detroit in hopes to find a better contending organization for one more shot at the Stanley Cup?
Buckle up, hockey fans; this will be quite the busy off-season, with several highly touted names hitting the open market.
