Corey Perry sends a surprising message to his former Blackhawks teammate during Game 4
Edmonton Oilers veteran Corey Perry sent a surprise message to his former teammate ahead of the fourth game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Corey Perry has been firing on all cylinders since the playoffs started. After losing in the Stanley Cup Finals four times in five years, with four different teams, he knows what it takes to win. Perry will be 40 years old in a few days, but still managed to take his game to the next level, with seven points, including five goals, in 10 playoff games so far this year.
Last night, Perry and the Oilers beat the Golden Knights 3-0 to take a 3-1 lead in the series, forcing Vegas to face elimination at the next game, set to go down tomorrow in Vegas.
Right before the game, Perry held an interview on TNT, with former teammate Pat Maroon working his first shift as a TV analyst.
Maroon asked him how Perry keeps doing what he does after so many years, and the Oilers forward replied by saying Maroon knew what it takes to do it, as he did it with him for a long time.
Maroon: "Hey, it's your favorite linemate of all time. For all those 300 goals you have, I probably have 200 assists on them. But, um, you're turning 40 in four days - it's pretty impressive to continue watching you do what you do in the playoffs, especially during the regular season. How have you kept doing it? I'm just so impressed by it."
Perry: "I just come to the rink and have fun. Um, you know, this is just what I was born to do. And you know that - you've been there a long time with me. It's just about having fun and playing hard. When you come to the rink, you work hard, but you also always do it with a smile on your face."
