A contract offer could be on the table for former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews after comments from an NHL general manager resurfaced.

Jonathan Toews was forced to step away from the NHL in 2023 due to health issues, but never stopped working to get back to the NHL.
After years of trying different methods to heal, he revealed that more than ever, he wants to come back soon, as he stated in an interview earlier this year:
"I'm not satisfied with the way things ended in Chicago.

It's not about proving anything. It's just that there's something left in the tank, and I want to explore that.

I want to go have fun, have a blast, play with passion. I want to be able to step away from the game having said that I've given it my all."

A new report from TSN revealed that when he's ready to come back, the Winnipeg Jets will be interested in locking him down.
The Winnipeg Jets want to be in the mix if three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews chooses to make an NHL comeback.
Toews has ties with Jets' GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, who stated in a recent interview that if the former Hawks captain were to return to the NHL, he'd be interested, but highlighted the challenges that will face the player before it happens:
"Certainly if he's progressing to that point in time, it would be a real welcome conversation to see if there's a fit both ways. I think it would be a great story for his career, too.

We haven't chatted in the last little while, but I certainly had some conversations with his representatives with respect to where things were.

For him, it's going to come down to getting back skating on a regular basis and getting that level of conditioning. I think he's going to have to push himself to get his body to respond and see how it responds. I think there's a lot of layers from that standpoint."

If Toews is able to return to a level where he can help a team win, teams are likely to line up to get his signature. His ties with Cheveldayoff could serve the Jets well in this case.
Stay tuned for more updates on Jonathan Toews' return to the NHL.
