The Chicago Blackhawks offense could look different under Jeff Blashill; however, for the sake of fans, GM Kyle Davidson is looking to keep some of the old status quo as the team has submitted a contract offer to Ryan Donato.
The
Chicago Blackhawks are fortunate to have $30.9 million in cap space. They can spend as they need, or remain conservative in the hopes that they get the talent they need in July.
For one
Chicago Blackhawks player we hope returns, the team has finally submitted a contract offer. That'd be Ryan Donato, who had a career year in Chicago, scoring a total of 62 points (31 goals, 31 assists) in 80 games this season.
His 2-year, $2.0 million contract expires at the end of the year, and he will be a pending UFA open to bidders.
But for Davidson, they hope they won't have to go that route and have submitted a contract to him and his agent, Matt Keator.
Donato has been a focal point of Kyle Davidson's "to-do" list, according to Scott Powers of The Athletic.
According to Scott Powers of The Athletic, while the Blackhawks and Donato have engaged in discussions about a new contract since season's end, an agreement has yet to materialize.
Donato could fetch a nice new deal upwards of $4.2 million AAV, according to Tab Bamford of Bleacher Nation.
While it wouldn't be an overpay, it'd be a fair deal for someone who was vital to the Blackhawks' offense this season.
Risk a lowball offer, and you risk losing him to free agency, and now we wait for something to materialize by July.
