Chicago Blackhawks hit with season-altering goaltending injury moments before training camp
Disgruntling injury news surfaced regarding a Chicago Blackhawks goaltender, less than a week before the start of the preseason.
However, one of them will be forced to miss the training camp due to an injury.
Laurent Brossoit Will Miss Training Camp Due To Injury
Laurent Brossoit joined the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2024, on a two-year, $6.6M contract, following an impressive season behind
Connor Hellebuyck with the Winnipeg Jets, where he had a .927 SV% and 2.00 GAA in 22 games.
Unfortunately, he's yet to play a game for the Blackhawks, and reports suggest it won't happen so soon.
After missing the entire 2024-25 season following knee surgery, Brossoit will miss the entire camp, and even more, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Had he been healthy, Brossoit would've competed for a number two spot in the NHL, or a prominent AHL role.
But now, considering that Soderblom established himself as a great number two option, and that Spencer Knight
signed a three-year extension, Brossoit's future in Chicago appears uncertain.
If he were to return at some point in the season and perform well despite the knee surgeries, he could be another great trade asset for the team ahead of the deadline.
The undrafted Russian goalie could cause a surprise during camp, after a 2.5 GAA and .929 SV% season in the VHL last year.
