The Chicago Blackhawks, who picked up the 3rd overall selection in the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft, are projected to go for some Swedish talent with the pick.
After another difficult rebuilding year, the Chicago Blackhawks were awarded the 3rd overall pick in the impending 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
Who are they planning on going with this year? Don't be surprised to see them take a waiver on young Swedish forward Anton Frondell, currently with Djurgardens IF in the Swedish Hockey League.
Per team sports director Niklas Wikegard, Frondell has
committed to returning to the club next year, meaning that whoever drafts him this summer will have to wait a bit for him to make his North American arrival.
Anton is a very mature person who has a very good reasoning with himself and those he speaks to; therefore, I am not at all surprised he made this decision. For us, this means that we get the opportunity to continue working with one of the most talented players that Sweden has produced in years.
In 29 games played this year, Frondell had 25 points (11G, 14A). He's made a name for himself playing at various levels of the Swedish Hockey system, and could potentially be eventually on his way to Chicago if they decide to make him their selection with the 3rd pick.
